The true first edition of Charles Willeford‘s first novel, High Priest Of California, packaged with Talbot Mundy‘s Full Moon. One of the books I’ve had for years that I’ve never considered selling, even for a moment.
Found at a used book shop near the University of Georgia campus in Athens, GA. A 1″ x 2″ bar code sticker on the back of the book didn’t deter me from shelling out the $10 asking price. I also managed to scrounge up a couple of Westlake & McBain first editions on the same expedition.
The bondage/whipping cover by Walter Popp adds to the desirability of this important over-sized edition.
Gary Lovisi’s Antique Trader Collectible Paperback Price Guide has this edition valued between $55 and $800, depending on condition.
